Today I thought I'd follow Laura from A Place For Tea's lead and write a Friday Flower post. The pretty bloom above is from the potted hydrangea on our patio. I'd like to dedicate this flower to a few special ladies...
Firstly to Paul's Gran Ivy who passed away this week. She reached the amazing age of 90 and I am hoping that the funeral next Tuesday will be a real celebration of her life. She was a sweet old lady and I know Paul has many happy memories of her from his childhood.
Secondly to Nicole and Mirela who passed on some lovely awards to me this week and to my good friend Janette who gave me the 'You Are Gifted Award' she received from Nicole too.
And lastly, to Jane of My Pear Tree House who has a tough road ahead of her - she needs all the prayers and positive thoughts she can at this difficult time.
Now I'm off to tidy up as we have all Paul's cousins coming around to our house tonight to work on writing a tribute to be read out on Tuesday. Our house is a mess so I need to do a quick tidy up. The Christmas present wrapping I had planned will have to wait until tomorrow - I'm going with a red and white theme and will share some photos on the weekend. Enjoy your Friday evening...

What a stunning flower! Pass on my condolences to Paul. Isn't Ivy a gorgeous name?
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I can't imagine you house would ever be a mess, you are always so super organized :) I look forward to hearing from you x
Sarah - I only take photos of my house when it's tidy :)
ReplyDeleteCondolences to Paul, hope the funeral is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flower pic :)
Ah, Amanda, so much going on in your house. Just like here on Planet Baby. A lovely dedication to everyone - snap! I had the same idea for today's post as I've been grappling with Jane's news and trying to work out how to respond. I hope you can share some pleasant family time in amongst the sadness. Thinking of you, Sweetie. J x
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear the passing of Paul's Gran Ivy. It is lovely that he has memories to treasure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty flower. I'm planning on planting a hydrangea near my dining room door and am hoping it'll blossom giving me an endless supply of flowers for inside. Well that is the plan at least.
Oh how sad about Paul's Gran. Those flowers are my favourites. x
ReplyDeleteLove the hydrangea, it's so pretty. So sorry to hear about Paul's gran. I agree Ivy is a beautiful name :) Enjoy your weekend Amanda xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flower and sentiments Amanda. Reaching 90 is fantastic, and I'm sure she will be missed very much. x
ReplyDeleteI think if I was to have another daughter I might call her Ivy....and I think when someone reaches 90 it should definitely be about the celebration of their life.
ReplyDeleteAlso hydrangeas happen to be one of my favourite flowers. There is something wonderfully old fashioned about them.
I absolutely LOVE hydrangeas and wish I could grow them here in the tropics. I'm so sorry to hear about your family's loss. 90 years of age is such a wonderful achievement. My own grandmother passed away at 94. She was a real "salt of the earth" woman and taught me so much about home making and making the most out of life. I will never forget her. Congratulations also on all the lovely awards you have received. Very special! Have a wonderful weekend Amanda. ;)Sharyne

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty flower. I'm sorry about Paul's gran. I hope you guys have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the awards. Your Friday flower is beautiful. Sorry to hear about your husbands grandmother. Sounds like she lived a long and full life. I'd say making it to 90 is pretty good. My husband wants to live to 120. I'm not sure I want to stay around that long. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards Amanda. So sorry to hear of your husband's gran's passing. I hope the funeral this week is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI thought that I submitted a comment, but I'm not sure, so if my comment I submitted for this went through, please disregard this one. This is such a sweet post! I felt like I could feel your sweet personality in every corner of the post. I'm sorry to hear about the loss. On another note, congratulations on getting awards! You totally deserve them!
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Paul's Gran. She sounds like she was a lovely soul, and 90 is a ripe old age! We lost George's Granddad this year at 96, it's very hard to let go as they have so much wisdom to share. I hope the funeral will be a lovely celebration of her life.
Congrats on your awards! So deserved, you really have a lovely blog and I always look forward to your posts! :)
Jane has been in my thoughts all day and I am praying hard that her operation goes well.
xx
Beautiful hydrangeas. I love them so much but they don't thrive on The Farm. Believe me I have tried!
ReplyDeleteIvy is such a gorgeous name. I hope Tuesday goes well for you and your family.
Take care
Hi Amanda, so sorry about Paul's granny, such sad news. Hope today goes well and the 'busy'ness slows down enough for you to have a wonderful Christmas. Love Emma. xx
