Stationery Finds

As a little girl, my favourite part of the school holidays (once Christmas was over) was choosing out all my stationery for the new school year. A new backpack and pencil case were chosen and I would eagerly browse through the 'back to school' catalogues for the bits and pieces I required, my favourite thing to choose being patterned contact to cover my school books.

With the 2011 school year here in WA starting next week, I thought I'd share a few cute stationery finds on Etsy that I'd be more than happy to have in my collection.

  5. Great finds! I loved looking for contact too. Amelia starts school on Monday and I'm worried that I'm going to be a mess! The only thing stopping me is seeing her get all her new school goodies together and just look at them. She's very excited and that makes me happy :)

  6. I love the bookmark/library plate. I love stationery as well - I was saying on twitter the other day that I used to love covering library books with contact.

I also used to have great fun decorating my books and folders before school started. I used to 'decoupage' the covers with my favourite cutouts from magazines etc and then cover with clear contact.

  7. I loved getting organised for going back to school, and reading this sent the smell of shaving pencils, rubbers (that's what I still call them), and fresh paper rushing back. I was such a perfectionist that a bubble in the contact (for covering books), could bring me to tears. So tragic I know!
There are so many more beautiful shops for stationery these days. Do you remember Granny Mays? I used to love going in there for fun little items when I was young. Maybe I'm showing my age??

  13. I loved covering my books too. My Dad would do it because he's so neat with doing it and would make sure there would be no bubbles in the contact. Ahhh... memories! Thanks for the trip down memory lane my dear!

  15. Oh I loooove stationary too Amanda :) I spent almost an hour in Kikki-K yesterday, lost in all their stationary goodness. I came out with a very big bag of goodies, and a very big grin! They have adorable little stamps that Ossie and Amelie have had a ball covering everything in sight with. Thank goodness the ink isn't hard to remove from paint and carpet! Poor Kate!

  16. Hi, Amanda! I loved stationaries for school, too! I used to have a box full of Sanrio character stationary goods when I was little which I wouldn't even use because they meant so much to me and I wanted to keep them nice and clean. Then I used them at some point. Your stationary finds are so cool! I'm just amazed that these are all handmade. (Isn't that a rule for etsy vendors?) There are some talented people out there! Kaho

  22. I remember the 'new stationery' time too. I also remember scribbling fake graffiti all over my new pencil case so it looked like the ones my older sisters had. Haha!
