Visiting The Fremantle Arts Centre

This morning, with no particular plans, I decided to go for a little outing with Grace down to the Fremantle Arts Centre. Built by convicts in 1864 this gorgeous building is one of my favourites in Fremantle and in addition to its amazing architecture and colourful history, it has such character once you step inside.

I had been wanting to take a look at the current exhibition called 'Home Open' which is an exhibition of the personal art collections of various Fremantle artists being displayed at the moment. After bribing Grace with a pack of sultanas, I was able to have a good look around. With high ceilings, beautiful floorboards, huge staircases and old fireplaces, it is such a lovely spot for a wander around.

Afterwards, I bought an iced chocolate for Grace and I to share and we sat out in the courtyard enjoying it and exploring the beautiful shady surroundings. I'm already planning my next visit.

This weekend we have a few nice things planned. Tomorrow morning I'm hoping to go for a quick visit to Domayne (I've never been there before) and in the afternoon, I'm off to the movies with my friend Lyndell. On Sunday we have a friend's little boy's first birthday party. What about you? What are your weekend plans?

  1. Hello lovely! Love that building too.. what a great idea for a day out! Wow Grace looks like she has grown heaps...
My weekend is starting tonight, I am catching up with some friends before we head off, one of the others is moving south, another is having her third baby (no more fun for her!) and the other is busy already! So a good chance for one last catch up. The rest is going to be filled with more packing re-organising and storing stuff everywhere!! Wish me luck, enjoy your weekend :)

  3. Amanda, what a fabulous building and exhibition! What a lovely way for you and your little Grace to spend some time together! I love the photos of Grace, she is just the cutest little blossom with the most beautiful eyes...I think she would get away with anything, and rightly so:) Enjoy your weekend. Not much happening here except the usual cleaning and maybe a DVD movie night at home tomorrow night. Hugs to you lovely ~ Tina xx

  7. What a fantastic place to visit. How wonderful to immerse little Grace into the arts even if she was more amused by the box of sultanas !
Tonight is my favourite night of TV , 3 hours of home shows. Tommorow taking my daughter to her art class & while she is there my 4 year old & I have sushi train for lunch & look at the boats at the Marina. No other plans with all the rain in Qld , we take each day as it comes. Have fun at Domayne but be careful with all the "sales" on.
