This past weekend has been one of little sleep in our household as Grace came down with a tummy bug. It was actually our 6th wedding anniversary on Saturday but as Paul was away on Friday and not back until Saturday night, we decided to wait until another weekend to go out to tea and celebrate. Lucky, because Saturday night was when Grace came down sick.
Anyway, having spent time trying to settle Grace and sleep on the couch and on the floor in her bedroom, it has made me appreciate my comfortable mattress all the more and it got me thinking about how our beds are such a source of comfort. I guess it's the same for little ones as even when I tried to bring Grace to our bed to cuddle her and settle her, she kept saying 'Gracie's bed' and pointed down the hallway to her room.
My side of our bed means I get out on the left hand side and if I sleep anywhere where this isn't possible, I find I sleep less well. As I lay away on the couch at goodness knows what hour the other night I was wondering, what happens when a couple move in together and both have a preference for the same side of the bed?
Although a bit lethargic and still with little appetite, Grace appeared much better yesterday and hopefully will pick up even more today. As for our week leading up to Easter, I think we'll take it easy and just lay low. Maybe it will be a good chance to do some Easter craft together.
Hope you all have a great start to the week...

Oh, I do hope Grace perks up today, Amanda. It's hard juggling a sick littlie when you're well, let alone pregnant as well. Lying low this week sounds eminently sensible. J x
ReplyDeleteI was a right hand sleeper but so is my partner and now I sleep on the left.....oh what a lady does for her man. Hope Grace is feeling better.....xx
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that Grace is feeling better! Thank you so much for your reassurance the other day. It is so lovely to have and I am so excited that you are pregnant at the same time I am, and I hope you don't mind if I have questions to ask over the next few months as I feel like it is my first pregnancy as my baby is now 11! Have a great week and I hope you get to rest up. xx
ReplyDeleteGet well soon Grace & take care of you too . xxxx
ReplyDeleteI love that image, all white, and the bed not made. Makes me want to jump in and read a good book!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Grace was not well. My first birthday after having my first child was spent at the late night medical centre, and I had that real "aha moment" of parenthood. How things had changed from the previous birthday!!
Congratulations on your anniversary. That's lovely you've something to look forward to at a later date now. Romance!
I have a side, and have moved many times, and sides many times, as I like to be furtherest from the door opening, as opposed to L or R. Ah quirks! :)
I hope that your little one feels much better soon, it is so hard (on everyone) when they are sick isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on my girls' room. I got their beds after much searching at BedShed of all places! I wanted antique (or antique looking) metal beds powder coated in antique white, and Laura Ashley had some very lovely but expensive ones, and well, I like these just as much and they were a third of the price! They are not in BedShed's catalogue, so you would be best to phone and enquire if they have them in Perth. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact name.
Happy searching!
Jane xx
That sounds like the perfect plan. I hope she's feeling better ASAP. x
ReplyDeleteit felt like i wanna sleep on that....
ReplyDeleteI hope that Grace starts to get better soon and today is a better day for both of you, it's no good when little ones are sick. Resting sounds like the perfect medicine for both of you this week. I hope you both get to have some craft time together. xo
ReplyDeletePoor Grace, I hope she is all better by now. Hopefully you have all caught up on your sleep by now. Happy Anniversary too!! x
ReplyDeleteI hope you get better soon! Take it easy, Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough night! I had one of those a couple of nights ago. I'd just washed our quilt cover and sheets and Bridget came in with a dripping blood nose! It went all over everything.. poor little thing. I'm with you..I find it hard to sleep in any bed other than my own. Hope you get to celebrate your anniversary soon.. Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteHappy 6th anniversary! I'm sorry to hear that Grace was sick, but happy to know that she's doing better. Comfy bed... Yes, that's so important, isn't it? Since we move around and we don't take our bed with us (we move without our furniture), we don't get to have the luxury of having a mattress that we love, but I do alright. The photo is lovely and reminded me that I have to go visit TLDB!!
ReplyDeleteugh...illness sucks! Hope you have a lovely Easter Amanda. xx
ReplyDeleteYou poor loves! That's no fun for sure.. I hope Grace is all better now, and you have caught up on your sleep, you need your rest, young lady!! hehe
