Denmark 'Dream House'

The quiet little town of Denmark in Western Australia's south west has always been our little 'home away from home' town.  Paul grew up there as a young boy and I've always felt drawn to this gorgeous spot where the forest meets the sea. Since we've known each other, we've made time to take a trip down there each year to escape the fast pace of daily life to somewhere more quiet and tranquil.

Paul will often send me an email with a link to a new property for sale in Denmark, usually with the words 'your dream house' in the subject line.  Last week, one such email landed in my inbox from him, the subject being 'your dream house... and this time I'm serious'.

While it wasn't the weatherboard cottage I've always pictured, this one was definitely a beautiful home (albeit with a hefty price tag).  It had a unique look, but to me, it definitely appeared warm, cosy and homely, so much so that I had to share some photos of it all with you.  I love its surrounding gardens, wrap-around verandahs and use of timber throughout the interior.  While I would modernise things with more fresh white inside, it definitely has the potential to be a stunning rural property...

  1. Wow, what a stunning property! I agree with you, paint it white inside and it would be perfect. I'd be happy for stone over weatherboard as you don't have to paint it! X

  7. Beautiful home Amanda. The stone on the verandah is stunning. I would defiantly get out the white paint tin. Maybe a lottery win will see you there quickly. Thankyou for sharing this part of Australia , it sounds delightful.

  8. Oh my goodness look at that brickwork! That is so sweet the Mr sends you those houses, though maybe a little teasing, you will have to keep buying those lotto tickets you never know one day :)

  12. It's lovely Amanda, that stone work is my favourite. I used to spend hours looking at homes on realestate.com, admiring all the beautiful homes out there. x

  13. Sounds like we are fellow realestate.com junkies. We found our dream home last week (and are looking at it again tomorrow), but are not quite sure that we can afford it. This one is gorgeous.

  14. I love Denmark! We used to take the kids camping there when they were little.
My mum was born there and my great grandfather used to have shops in the main street, Craig's buildings, now a physio or doctor's surgery I think.
Green's Pool is the most beautiful place on earth.
That house is gorgeous by the way.

  15. That is certainly a house suited for anyone's choice of dream house. Wide place where children can run around and has a very historical kind of aura. how much would that property be?

    1. Yes, a beautiful property but it had a lot of water as in dams etc. on the property so not very practical for young children. I can't remember the price tag, but remember thinking it was a 'need to win lotto' house - the listing now says POA for the price.
