Hello again
everyone! Last week, I had a little blogging break as all my energy and
enthusiasm went into just 'getting through the basics' each day. Sophie
had been having high temperatures for almost a week and without any other
visible signs of illness, I initially put it down to teething. However as
the days dragged on and we reached six days of her being out of sorts, a trip
to the doctor found she most likely had a virus. Thankfully, by last
Thursday, she was back to her happy, smiley little self again.
Aside
from being house bound and trying to pacify a grumpy Sophie, we did have some
excitement last week in the form of a new car. Paul has been trying to
convince me for ages now that we 'needed' a four wheel drive and a while back,
I finally agreed he could buy whatever he thought would be suitable for us.
After a long wait, our new vehicle finally arrived and so yesterday, we
took it for a drive out to York in the Avon Valley. It was a gloriously
sunny day and we enjoyed wandering through the town browsing in little antique
shops, stopping for lunch at a cafe on the main strip, investigating the
Swinging Bridge and then enjoying Devonshire tea at The Mill.
How
did you spend your weekend?
That sounds very exciting! A trip on a beautiful sunny day sounds like a great way to test out the new car. I like visiting towns and walking through new little shops, so glad you had a good weekend and that Sophie is back to her happy self again. We went out with the inlaws on Saturday to Wynnum for fish and chips and then yesterday just a quiet day at home. Have a wonderful week my lovely friend. xx
ReplyDeleteLove the smell of a new car, it's been a while since I last smelt it, I love my wagon too much to part with it. How perfect a weekend drive to and devonshire tea, delicious.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely way to spend the weekend Amanda. And a new car! How exciting. I doubt I'll ever get to experience that new car smell, I'd be happy with a car service these days, my poor old car...
ReplyDeleteKeep warm xx
Oh no poor Sophie. We have all bee sick as well. Glad to hear she is feeling better and that is very exciting about your new car! x
ReplyDeleteSo glad she is over the virus...must have been scary for you! How exciting a new car....and what a lovely way to spend Sunday. We spent it picking lemons and running around in our newly cleared block of land...well a wee bit of it anyway...let's not get carried away lol!
ReplyDeleteIsn't the Winter sunshine glorious for the spirits? Wishing you all good health this week x
I find I'm so much more enthusiastic when it's sunny too :)
DeleteIt was the most beautiful sunny day in Perth on Sunday I have to agree! What a perfect way to enjoy a new car with a drive to York, I haven't been there for years...I remember going there as a little girl & buying a figurine from the chemist! Weird hey? Must take a drive one day. We spent the day at Yanchep National Park, was lovely!
ReplyDeleteYanchep would have been lovely on such a nice sunny day x
DeleteI'm glad she is well...nothing like a sick baby to take all of your energy for her.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear that sophie has been sick -- it's no good when they just can't tell you what's wrong...and six days of high temperatures and grumpiness is enough to tire anyone out! glad to hear that she's feeling better.
ReplyDeletethere's nothing like a drive in the sunshine with the fam. the idea of devonshire tea at a mill sounds delightful!
Amanda I am glad to hear that Sophie is over her virus...this time of the year plays havoc on their little immune systems.
ReplyDeleteI have heard so much about York but am yet to get there..must pencil it in for the coming months :)
x
I love a Sunday drive. As kids we always used to go on them. Looking back now, I think it was so mum could have some time off doing the housework and we could all be together in the one place.
ReplyDeleteHOpe Sophie is better soon. Enjoy the new car.
I'm glad Sophie is well too. Skye and my niece had a similar thing last week too. All the mumas at playgroup today were telling similar stories. So there must be something going around.
ReplyDeleteA drive in the country sounds lovely on a cool sunny day. We turned Cams spearfishing boat into a family boat and took Skye and Joy out on the river with an icecream treat afterwards.
xx
