Today I thought I'd share with you a few bits and pieces around our home that are making me happy right now...
This sweet vintage children's book illustration was initially purchased for Sophie's bedroom. However, the more and more I looked at it, the more it seemed suited to Grace. And so before Christmas, I had Paul hang it in our big girl's room above her bedside table.
Grace is a huge animal lover. One of her favourite weekend outings is a visit to the pet store with her Daddy. Upon returning home, she tells me about all the animals she got to see, the python being the one that seems to intrigue her the most. As I tuck her in each night and catch a glimpse of the picture above, it really does make me smile and I know its found the perfect spot in her room.
For Christmas, Paul bought me a Tivoli Audio Model One radio, something I have had on my wishlist for a long time. I love it! Taking up a prominent position on our kitchen bench, it looks great, has amazing sound quality and I love being able to switch it on each morning as I make my first cup of tea for the day.
On the topic of tea, this new brand I picked up before Christmas from a health food store hasn't disappointed. While it was its cute packaging that initially drew me to it, it also tastes delicious, so nice in fact that I find I'm not as eager to reach for an accompanying sweet treat, instead preferring to enjoy its taste alone.
Is there something new in your home currently making you happy?
Love your Tivoli radio!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a fantastic radio. They are expensive, but very good sound quality, even when the iPod is plugged in and it's used that way.
DeleteSuch a sweet print! And your kitchen looks so calm and inviting. Loving the pantry at the moment...had a huge cleanout and re-organise. And some hanging bottles full of wisps of things we've collected (I'll share these on the blog soon...I'm so in love with them) Wishing you beautiful days with your little ladies :) x
ReplyDeleteMy pantry is something I need to get onto to! Nothing like neat shelves :)
DeleteNice radio Amanda, you lucky thing! It fits in well. I really like the little illustration too. It does suit Grace and her love for animals.
ReplyDeleteNot much new in my home, though I did buy a marked down cushion from Freedom today ( went in to look at something else). Nice and colourful.
I hope you are having a good week.
Your home looks so inviting, crisp and homely Amanda. That print is gorgeous too. x
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda...yes I agree, love your radio I may have to look at getting one....Graces' picture is gorgeous...While I haven't really picked up anything new I'm loving my stencilled breakfast tray I did and I have another project I'm starting a little later today....I love re-using things, it saves so much waste and you havethe bonus of being creative and claimiing it as your own......I kind of fibbed though my new fave thing in the house I just bought the other week is my peace lilly plant....I love them and have wanted one forever and finally picked one up....take care...xo
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking we need a few more indoor plants around here too - the splash of green adds a fresh feeling I think :)
DeleteThat framed picture is very sweet, it sounds like it suits your animal loving little Grace. And that tea is very yummy indeed. I'm very much enjoying mine too:) I'm enjoying my new blender I got in the post yesterday after my much loved one was broken recently and getting some fabric for Miss 8 that I was hoping to turn into a quilt for her birthday. I don't think that's going to happen now, I just won't have enough time as her birthday is in just 2 weeks:( xx
ReplyDeleteA new blender, lucky you! After watching Jamie Oliver, I've decided I need a food processor...
Deleteyour kitchen looks like such a relaxing and peaceful space...and that radio is very cool!
ReplyDeletemmm...nice tea is just divine -- coming from someone who doesn't drink a lot of tea, and haven't been a tea drinker for all that long (few years)...when you have a nice tea..you're right, you really don't need anything to accompany it.
I've never seen those radios but my it does look good there on your bench!! We just painted our kitchen and dining room so i am loving the new fresh look at the moment...before the twins make it not so fresh anyway ;)
ReplyDeleteA fresh coat of paint can do wonders... I was looking at our fingerprint covered walls during the week so that might be on our list soon too...
DeleteI love that print, it reminds me of when I was little and being at my grandparents were we had a huge cupboard full of books that looked just like that.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous idea xx
I love your vintage illustration - that would make me very very happy too :-) I'm currently really enjoying my little vintage glass bottles I got at the oppy. Mel x
ReplyDeleteOh that print is just so sweet. My dad has a vintage radio that belonged to his father, I do not know of a day when it hasn't been on in the background.
ReplyDeleteWe've done a major cull these holidays and I am loving how clean and tidy our home now is.

Hi Amanda! I love your framed children's book illustration -- I'm a fan of anything vintage, and the drawing is so sweet. In my home, a newly framed photograph of my husband's is making me happy. We hung it on the wall in our bedroom. It's a shot that he took at the lake one morning after an early swim. Everything became very foggy and he grabbed his camera and captured some nice photos. I love having original artwork in the house to enjoy.

Photographs can really personalise a home... I'm hoping to re-do my gallery wall this year and change it from wedding shots to family photos x
DeleteYour home is so pretty {and neat and tidy}
ReplyDeleteThat print is lovely, but that music box I love. Just made my wish list too!
Xx
You can't see the other half of the room where toys are scattered everywhere :)
DeleteI'm echoing everyone else here - that print is so sweet!! I love the idea of framing a vintage illustration and it's so lovely that it suits Grace to a tee. I would have adored it when I was a kid too, was known as the kid who had all the pets in primary school! Thing making me happy in my house... is it weird to say the Christmas tree? I've been lazy about it and still haven't taken it down! Should probably get onto that soon...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous print, it looks like it belongs in an Enid Blyton book, do you know what story it came from? Not much new in our house at the moment but I'm starting work tomorrow and looking forward to having some money coming in soon to do some buying of a few things I want/need!
ReplyDeleteIt is quite Enid Blyton-like :) I'm not sure of the exact book it came from though...
DeleteI remember that book from when I was a child. Your home looks lovely and inviting. Lisa xo
