Next up on my little House Tour is our entryway. At the moment, this area is very bare. The biggest change here has been removing our old ugly tiles and laying our floorboards. Also, this wall used to be ugly face brick so we had it rendered which made such an improvement (no before photos sorry). The artwork hanging above our hall table is a Helen Norton painting. We also have some black and white wedding photographs in our hallway and several other pieces by Etsy artists and local artists.
The items on the hall table are not going to stay there (I am not that bad at interior styling!!) - I just haven’t decided what is needed for this space to complement the painting. This feature wall is also not staying. Paul and I both agreed on the weekend that it does nothing for the painting and so we are thinking of changing it to the same colour as the other walls.
At present Paul is in the middle of painting the exterior of the front door. We are changing it from ugly cream to crisp white. However, we are unsure what colour to paint the side panel. We are trying to decide between white or the charcoal grey of the frames. I’m leaning more towards charcoal at the moment as I think the white may look too stark against the bricks. Would love your opinions. Here is a before shot and a partly completed shot…
What a nice entry Amanda! The painting of the two doggies is so cute! I like the white door- I am a fan of white...when in doubt, paint it white!! Though charcoal is a nice compliment to it...decisions decisions, oh the libran in me!
ReplyDeleteYour floors look divine!! x
ReplyDeleteGreat painting! I love original artwork in the home. I am also a big fan of Charcoal and coloured front doors that make a bit of a statement. You can always change to white in a couple of years if you get sick of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely feature of your home having an entry way and the collage of black and white wedding pictures makes it feel homely.I think the charcoal works well against the white of the door and beside the bricks. Thanks for showing us your entry Amanda. I'm really enjoy the tour of your home. xo
ReplyDeleteYour new floorboards look great, and I love the painting on the feature wall. It looks like you have do much wonderful space in your home and garden it must be great to live there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments everyone.

Karlyn - this painting is not an original unfortunately but it is a signed print :)
Catherine - thanks! We really love our house and are slowly but surely adding our own little touches to it. We were fortunate to buy at a good time here in WA.
ReplyDeleteLoving the tour Amanda. Keep the pics coming.
ReplyDeleteI think you cant go wrong with white. Its just fool proof in decorating. Looking forward to catching up on your blog.
ReplyDeleteYour floors have come up so well Amanda, they look great! I think the grey would look nice against the door and the brick. I just checked out your garden tour and it looks fabulous. I can't wait until our garden start to look a bit more established. At the moment I am struggling to keep our puppy from ripping out all of the new plants!
