This Week...

...I've finally made a small start in getting ready for Christmas. Yesterday, Grace and I put up the Christmas tree. The fairy lights are on but I have yet to add the decorations. I'm debating whether to put them on the higher branches out of Grace's reach or whether to buy or make some simple ones that will be safe for little hands. This weekend's job is to write out our Christmas cards ready to be posted.

...I have found some time to enjoy reading. I have just finished the novel 'Homecoming' and am now a few chapters into 'What We Have'. I forgot how much I love getting stuck into a good story and as much flicking through a magazine is one of my favourite ways to relax, becoming engaged in a good plot with interesting characters is fun too.

...I've become very well aquainted with the 'nursing' chair in Grace's room. Grace has had a week of very unsettled nights due to two nasty teeth that are beginning to appear. This has meant cuddles have been needed in the early hours of the morning and I have since reached the conclusion that although I like our Ikea Poang chair, it is definitely not a chair I would use in a nursery in the future.

...I have appreciated the supportive comments from my readers. After a week of feeling frazzled and sleep deprived, it has truly made my day to see a comment has been left on a post I've written. I feel so lucky to be part of such a supportive blogging community.

  1. How lovely to say Amanda, and I agree with you. Books are a great escape, and glad you've been getting re-acquainted with them. I say put the decorations on up high, and maybe just a few down the bottom to see how Grace goes. We did our Santa shop last night, so finally getting organised which feels great. :)

  4. Oh, Sweetie, I empathise. We've had way too many bleary nights on Planet Baby soothing the pixies in the wee hours. Sleep deprivation is the pits. Sending gorgeous Grace sleepy vibes from Hobart tonight! J x

  10. Ouch! Hope Grace is feeling much better. It's so unfair that teething has to hurt so much. Looking forward to pics of the tree. I can't believe that our 11 month old hasn't pulled ours over yet. I purposely left the ceramic ornaments off this year for the same reason. Have a lovely rest of the weekend x

  12. We had the same chair in our nursery for both boys. Wouldn't use it in a nursery again either. I hope your little one's teeth pop through soon! love the Christmas decor and all the white candleholders.xo

  13. Oh hon, 'frazzled' is no good... By the sounds of this post, you are getting back on top of things. How well I remember night after night after night sitting on the end of the bed in Max's room. After night, after night, after night... I get it and I'm thinking of you. x

  14. I hope Grace is feeling better and back to her sweet self and that you've been able to get some more sleep. The Christmas tree is always a favourite for little ones and having friendly decorations just for her sounds perfect. I hope you had a good weekend and got lots done on your to do list. Have a wonderful week. xo

  16. I felt exactly the same about the chair we chose as our 'nursing chair!'

We bought my lil one her own tiny tree and a box of unbreakable ornaments, she can play with that to her hearts content and has learnt to leave the larger tree be :)

  18. I hope Grace is having a better week.
I like the idea of decorations that suit little ones. There is enough to do without worrying about breakable decorations.
I only ever read books on holidays because once I start a book I can't put it down - which means nothing else gets done lol. Enjoy your book Amanda:)

  19. I'm sorry that I have been so out of touch. I remember reading about Grace being sick and you were taking some time off. I left a comment, but I don't know if it went through properly. Sometimes I forget to press the final button! I'm glad to know that you're back to your saddle and doing well. I would love to see the photos of your Christmas tree! Congrats on getting a new camera! Enjoy playing with it!! Kaho
