What A Weekend

Hi everyone, sorry I've disappeared over the last few days. I was planning on spending some time blogging yesterday, only to have our power go out at 7.30am and not return until after 9.30pm!!! It's amazing how much you rely on electricity. Then, while helping Paul pruning in the garden for our upcoming green waste verge collection, I sliced my finger badly with some secateurs and had to go and get a tetanus shot.

My weekend was not all bad though. I took advantage of the no electricity situation and managed to file away the mountain of paperwork that had grown in our study and after hunting for a buffet cabinet on Saturday, we managed to find a suitable one and ordered it yesterday (should be arriving today). I also went to a Hen's Party lunch on Saturday at the Windsor Hotel in South Perth which was a great afternoon out.

I'll try and get around to all your lovely blogs today and catch up on your posts. Hope you have a wonderful start to the week...

  1. So glad to hear from you Amanda, Ouch that sounds nasty and ouch for the tetanus shot - that's the one that hurts your arm isn't it.
I'm glad you had a good weekend despite all of that and I love the picture of your lushous green carpet of a lawn :)
    Have a lovely day,

  2. Hate blackouts! Don't they know how upsetting it is to have your blogging plans so rudely interrupted?? Hope the finger's ok, and now you've made me feel guilty about my huge mountain of filing - yuk!
    Have a good week,

  3. What a weekend! Do blackouts happen often in Australia? I remember reading on another Australian's blog about a blackout about a week ago. Good for you - turning lemons into lemonade!

  5. Oh goodness, I hope your finger is ok Amanda! Great to hear that you had some fun on the weekend at a hen's party:) Not very good news about the power though, that is a long time for it to be out. Good on you for getting your paperwork sorted and lucky you to get a new buffet!! Take care of that finger and I hope you have a lovely Monday ~ Tina xx

  6. Wow, a whole day without electricity - ouch!! And speaking of ouch...your poor finger! I have a bit of a fear of cutting my finger with secateurs as mine are super sharp. Glad yours is ok. Boy, your lawn looks nice! :)

  7. You poor thing Amanda! Tetanus shots are horrible. I was bitten by a dog and had to have one, the shot hurt more than the bite! It's good that you got so much other stuff done though! Have a great week. xx

  9. Thanks for the well wishes for my finger everyone :) It's fine, just a bit of an inconvenience as I'm not allowed to get it wet for a few days. As for the blackout, that was a huge inconvenience - not so much during the day, but was a pain at night trying to get Grace fed and ready for bed. We haven't really had a blackout here before. I thought I dealth with it pretty well but according to Paul, I whinged about it all day :)

  11. Oh I can relate! No power tests us all. The pile of paperwork on the study desk, I'm amazed at just how fast it grows!
Hope your finger is recovering well, keep it dry to avoid infection :)

  12. You just don't realise how much you rely on something until you haven't got it! Sadly we've become quite used to blackouts as we get a lot here in the Highlands - every time it gets windy (which is a lot) or there's a storm we lose power. Hope you're finger is on the mend and you have a lovely week. Leigh

I wouldn't be suprised if the power goes out tonight with this storm! Your lawn is looking fantastic! Can't wait to see the new piece of furniture! Kylie xx

  23. Hope you didn't get too punished by the storm. Looks like it was a nasty one! We have our Perth place rented out and it copped it pretty bad. Thank goodness for property mangers and insurance!

  24. Yes, what a storm!! Never seen anything like it. We were lucky to only have had one frangipani tree that toppled which we have revived. Apart from that, not much else was damaged fortunately.
