Image from Party Perfect
I think I need to get cracking with making the decorations for Grace’s party which is only four weeks away tomorrow. I had a dream last week that I woke up and it was her birthday and I had no food for the guests and the decorations hadn’t even been made!
I’ve been collecting ideas from all over the Internet and sketching ideas in my notebook and am now ready to actually start making some things. I’m thinking of going with a pink, green and white colour palette for something girly. In terms of decorations, I'd like to have a display of some sort with photos from Grace's first year, some paper circle garlands and either tissue paper pom-poms or rice paper lanterns.

I love! And who cares about the food... so long as you have fab decorations, right?! Go rice paper lanterns, they are cheap as at the $2 shop and Martha Stewart pompoms are just everywhere at the moment. Love the garlands and love the photo display idea. Good luck!!

ReplyDeleteNicole - I looked at our $2 store for lanterns but didn't find any - the cheapest I've found are on ebay.
Karyn - yes, I'm picking out a photo from each month too to create a little timeline.
Anna - don't worry, I'm going to keep things simple but still have fun creating a few special bits and pieces.

Oh gosh yes, the polaroids and fairy lights! A must have! And you could take polaroids from this year's party, and then hang them at next year's, and so on. Very lovely and cool!

ReplyDeleteHi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing tissue paper pompoms all over blogs and absolutely love them. I'm dying to make some. I've also seen some lovely tissue paper bunting somewhere and this would be so easy to make and very effective. The idea of photos and fairy lights is gorgeous too!
You sound a bit like me - I stress so much over trying to make everything perfect and when it's all over without a hitch I wonder why I stressed so much!
Good luck with your preparations and have fun!
~Sam

ReplyDeleteI love the colors you are going with, I can't wait to see pictures! A really fun food idea is mini carmel apple bites. I made them for my daughters 2nd birthday and they were a hit with adults and kids! I will do them again for every party I plan, they are just so yummy and cute! If you go to my blog and click on "tiny two" under parties then you can see them. Hope the party planning goes great!
