Vintage Etsy Envy
In keeping with the 'Vintage Modern' label I have decided suits the decorating style I am aiming for in our home, I am always on the lookout for a pre-loved treasure at thrift shops, antique stores and flea markets. Lately, I've stumbled across so many vintage pieces on Etsy I would love to decorate with. However, postage for these is usually within the US only and international shipping for such items probably wouldn't be practical anyway.
Fortunately for me, there's an annual jumble sale at a little church nearby where my mother-in-law always manages to nab a bargain, so on Saturday morning, I'll be going for a browse and hopefully find some treasures. Also, an upcoming Craft and Antique Fair in Perth is also home this year to the Polka Dot Vintage Market so I'm hoping to go for a look at that later in the month too.
For now, I'll share with you the Etsy pieces that have caught my eye...

love all those fun vintage finds on etsy....it's fun checking out the local church markets - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh Amanda, I just saw your post and realised that I really should open up my shed and host my own vintage sale! I have most of these things, or very similar, stashed away, and if I could find the time, I should really list some on Etsy. Thanks for the reminder my sweet! K xx
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous..Love, love, love Etsy..even just for the pictures! Fascinating to see what pieces you like too..Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteOoh love them all, great choices, especially love that enamel tea pot. I think the postage issue is a good thing for me, otherwise i'd want to order the whole Ethan Ollie shop!
ReplyDeletenice finds...oh how i LOVE etsy too :)
ReplyDeletehave your self a lovely evening lovelie.
p.s having a giveaway over at my blog which ends Thurs if interested and i tagged you in a fun game too:) xx
Very cool Amanda! I love those little drawers and I'm pretty sure my Grandma had the exact same bowl with the yellow dots on it!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the jumble sale, I hope you come home with lots of goodies to show us!
Jxxx
All of these are so super gorgeous..and I can easily imagine these little findings in your home..especially your kitchen..I think its most achievable sweety...and aside from cheaper...its even better when these little findings have a little story to them..where or how you came about them..rather than a simple purchase online..dont you think? x
ReplyDeleteI love that first pic. I can lose hours browsing through etsy but like you the cost of postage puts me off buying anything. I hope you find some treasures at the jumble sale x x
ReplyDeleteoh etsy - i've been so good lately!! but have a feeling that will all change soon as the baby's birth nears; there are just too many nice things on there! love the watering can!! x
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh. did you say a polka dot vintage market? oh. my. bring on next year when i will be able to go to all of these things (and find out from you about the good church jumble sale!) i'm down in perth the weekend after the craft market.. which means i get to make it to upmarket for the first time ever! yay but no craft show for me this year.
ReplyDeleteI love your selection, that Kettle is very cool and I like the watering can and the stool very much! They would all look fantastic in a vintage-mod setting :)
ReplyDeletePS. Your vege garden is looking really great! You have to watch out for those pesky white butterflies though, they've been eating my lettuces too, along with their snail friends :(
Kerri - would love to see the treasures hiding away in your shed!
ReplyDeleteAnna - I agree, it's nice for pieces in your home to have a story behind them. Etsy and online shopping in general is just so convenient when you have a toddler in tow :)
Such cute things Amanda...me too I love stuff like that. Hope you find some treasures at the church sale on saturday. Sorry I don't comment as much as I should but life is just INSANE for me right now, but I still read you every day!!! BTW that dress you showed us a few posts ago is gorgeous...and so are you!
ReplyDeleteLisa - lovely to see you here, thank you for your sweet comment x
ReplyDeleteLove all of your choices!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that mixing bowl!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, they look like drawers from an old Singer sewing machine...gorgeous!

Great picks, especially that cheery polka dot bowl. I'd love one of those, too! I drool over so much on Etsy with so many fabulous things. I do thrift often and am always so amazed at some of the treasures I find.
ReplyDeleteLesley - yes the drawers are from an old sewing machine, I'd love one to keep bits and pieces in on top of my desk.
ReplyDeleteImage #1 is gorgeous. Look forward to hearing how your next market trawl pans out. x
ReplyDeleteAll those items are adorable. I totally understand about the frieght from US it is so disappointing to find fuch fanatstic stuff but either not be able to get it here or having to pay a small fortune for shipping! Good luck at the market hopefully you will find lots of goodies. Thanks for your lovely comment the other day, it was so encouraging and supportive, your a sweetie. xx
ReplyDeleteWell, etsy is an absolute fave of mine, I'm on it almost every day! In fact I am hoping to start my own store very soon! The vintage bits on Etsy are fabulous but I agree, the postage is too expensive to Aus. Such a pity!

Oh Amanda, Etsy is soooo dangerous!! I've bought a few very unique things that are aren't easy to find here but I know what you mean about the additional cost for certain items that are likely to be more universally available if you go the right places. Hope you're having a good week xx
