Back To Blogging

Thank you for all your get well wishes for Grace. She seems to be on the mend today and although she is not entirely back to normal (especially where sleep patterns are concerned!) she is finally starting to get some of her happy little spark back after she suffered a terrible reaction to some antibiotics she was on for an ear infection.

And so begins another week and Christmas creeps up closer and closer. I need to get into gear soon and organise myself as I haven’t bought one single present yet. The first step will be putting up our Christmas tree during the week.

This year my Mum won’t be here for Christmas as she and her partner are are heading to the UK. It will be so lovely for them to enjoy a white Christmas entirely different to how we experience things here in Australia at this time of year. Does anyone have any suggestions of anything I should ask her to be on the lookout for for me while she’s over there, something small that’s better over there or only made in the UK?

How are all your Christmas preparations coming along?

  1. Glad to hear Grace is feeling better. It's always so tough when you have a sick baby, and very tiring. My Christmas preps are going slowly, but I've locked in late night shopping this week with my husband, and have organised the kids to be minded so we can make a start!
The UK is the one place I don't mind touristy memorabilia. Maybe a little red bus? :)

  2. We're having Christmas at home, must the 6 of us in Canberra, then we'll visit our families in Sydney a few days later. My mummy is English so we used to go to Europe every 2nd year (totally spoilt) & had a white Christmas. We'd go up to Oxford Street for the lights & store windows, so exciting!! I have to get through a couple more markets before we decorate the house, i'm so excited. Love Posie

  3. Poor Grace, I'm glad to hear she is doing better. Don't worry Amanda, I am completely disorganized as well. Hopefully I can get the tree up this week. Our Christmases are always quiet as I have a small family, but I like it. When I went to Europe many years ago it was about this time so all the decorations were up- it was so pretty! X x

  4. It always is such a worrying time when little ones are unwell. Hopefully she is over the worst of it. I managed to put our Christmas tree up over the weekend although the decoratons are looking a little sparse. Will have to find time to either make or buy a few more. As for gift shopping - well it's all in my head at the moment! I'm very much a last minute Christmas shopper. I bought my daughter back a Paddington Bear (from Paddington Station) when I travelled to the UK last year. So cute with his little blue duffle coat and red wellies - she loved it! ;)Sharyne

  5. I'm so glad Grace is starting to feel better:). I have started putting up the Christmas decorations but it will probably take all week. I have to agree the decorations in London are fabulous. So are the clothes:)

  6. Oh I am glad she is feeling a little better. Nothing worse than having sick kids and seeing their little faces.

  7. Our prep for Christmas is slow too. How nice for your Mum to be overseas for Christmas. As for gift ideas, Liberty fabric is always good and would travel well. xx

  10. Welcome back :)

My mum is also heading o/s for a white Christmas. Tho mine is going to Austria. I'm insanely jealous!

My tree is going up on Thursday although I've just realised my baubles are fragile so I'll have to pack them away until Amelie is older. I'm going to try my hand at cutting out some paper snowflakes to decorate my tree.

  13. Glad to hear you and the little one are on the mend. The UK has heaps of really quaint antique shops with really, really old trinklets (not like Oz ones which are only 50 or so yrs old!). They also seem to have a lot of brass ornaments like candle defusers, bowls, that kind of thing.

  15. Hi Amanda. That's great to hear your little miss is better.

My Christmas shopping is almost complete. I'm slightly shocked by this myself as I'm never this organised.

I went to put the Christmas Tree up today only to discover I can't find the decorations. So my poor tree is standing in our lounge room looking rather naked :-)

    All the best,
    Renee

  16. Agree about the liberty fabric or anything liberty really as its all gorgeous!

My English friend who lives in Sydney always likes to stock up on perfume when she comes back over as its much cheaper here apparently.

Also any foodstuffs from Fortnum and Mason, they sell some lovely things.

Hope she has a great time!
