Sibling Similarities

Having had two girls hasn’t necessarily meant I’ve been able to use lots of Grace’s old clothes for Sophie.  With Grace being a winter baby, she lived in cosy jackets, jumpsuits and beanies.  Sophie on the other hand spent most of her first few months in just a singlet and a nappy.  Sadly, I’m finding now as I’m slowly passing on outfits Sophie has outgrown, she hasn’t even worn many of the cute outfits  I’d saved of her big sister’s.

There is one piece however I have been able to use for both times around – a brown pinafore one of my best friends gave Grace.  Looking back on photos, it was interesting to see both of my girls wearing the same outfit at roughly the same age (Grace at four months and Sophie a few months ago back at 5 months).

I often get asked if Sophie looks like Grace did when she was a baby.  While there are definitely similarities (blue eyes, blonde hair, round face), I can honestly say they have different features. And slowly, as the days go on, I’m noticing Sophie developing her own unique little personality too.

  1. My sister and I are 18 months apart in age and I think because we both had long dark hair and dressed similarly everyone ALWAYS thought we were twins. I think when you know their separate perconalioties your girls will look different, more so than some one who doesn't know them well. When I look at my sister and I, I think we are rather different but if you merged our faces I think we'd look a lot like my mum. It's funny. Genetics is a fascinating thing.
Gosh, hasn't Grace grown? We will all be saying that about Sophie before long :)

  2. I am the same... one Oct baby and one June so totally the reverse as far as seasons go. As H has gotten older though I am finding the hand-me-downs from Nicholas are being used more. I also get asked if N looked like H! xx

  3. Oh, Amanda, your girls are so scrumptious! I know what you mean though. The boys both have blonde hair and blue eyes, but it's not even the same shade or blue or blonde! I don't think they even look like brothers, let alone twins. I think it's nice that they are so different; it means that they won't always be compared xx

  4. What a pity you haven't been able to use many of Grace's old clothes, but on the plus side at least the birthdays are nicely spaced apart! Having two birthdays in the same month would be dreadful for the budget and all the organising, so I think you've organised it better that way.

  5. Aww I love the 2 photos. TOOOO CUTE!!!
With me having 2 of the different sex, I couldn't pass on much...especially since Ella's wardrobe was COMPLETELY girly...all.of.the.time :) But there was a few things I could keep for Ryder {white onesies, stripey shirts etc} BUT...Ryder is soooo big for his age that he's already outgrown any of those hand-me-down options :(
And as for them looking alike....I can see a lot of similarities in Sophie & Grace....but a lot of differences too :) They're both gorgeous though!
Ella & Ryder look VERY alike I think. My husband's genes are very strong I think. Both of my kids look more like him, than me :)

  6. Gosh, they are both utterly gorgeous Amanda :)
Our oldest two are 20 months apart and while they are completely opposite personality wise, we are often asked if they are twins.

  7. They are both so very sweet and Sophie has the cutest smile in this photo:) It's lovely when both of your girls get to wear some of the same clothes I've been lucky enough that Miss 8 can wear a lot of her sisters clothes. My girls to look at them have some similarities but are very different too. Miss 12 has brown hair and brown eyes, Miss 8 has blonde hair and blue eyes. When you look back on photos though when they were younger, they really are quite similar.x

  9. He he, such cute pics! I think both girls look quite different in real life (age aside), although this picture makes them look very similar! I think Sophie looks more like Paul as a baby.

    See you next week x

  12. Hi Amanda...both girls are just adorable and look at those cheeks...hehe....I see the similarities in your girls and the differences....I had two winter babies and one summer baby but being my last baby was a winter baby she got all new clothes as my other winter and summer babies were boys....she's loved the fact she's always been able to get all new clothes being the only girl....I'm the second of four girls and we had the hand me downs and I have to say I look nothing like my sisters....we all look very different...I guess I do look more like my mum but with my dad's personality hehehe how's that for a combination xo
