Grace is currently going through a ‘let’s wear dress-ups
at every possible moment during the day’ phase.
She wakes and is straight into her fairy costume. Throughout the day, she colours in, plays in
the garden with Asha and has tea parties with her toys all whilst wearing her
fairy outfit.
Thankfully, she accepts that her costume doesn’t leave
the house.
Last night, I snuck in to check on Grace before I headed
to bed and there she was under the covers in nothing but knickers and her fairy
dress, with a crown perched on her head and a wand clutched tightly in her
hand. This is the second night we've found her like this. Thankfully she was in a deep sleep
and I managed to change her back into her warm pyjamas without her waking,
Later, when I went to feed Sophie in the early hours of
the morning, I decided to poke my head back in to Grace’s room to check she hadn’t
kicked her covers off and could not believe she had once again done an ‘outfit
change’!
so very cute, my youngest daughter slept with her new clarks black patent leathers for over a week when she first got them. Dress up are too much fun. Why spoil the fun!
ReplyDeleteMy Mum always tells me how I used to wear costumes everywhere when I was little. When she went grocery shopping I would run out in my latest costume. She said it was because I liked all the attention I got at the shops!
ReplyDeleteYour daughters fairy costume is adorable and I'm sure she'll be sick of it in a couple of weeks anyway! xx

Awww this post made me smile and giggle too;) Grace is so very cute in her fairy dress and I love the photo her in bed with it on. Miss 8 was exactly the same, it's a wonderful memory to look back on and remember. xx
ReplyDeleteOMG....that is classic! HOW SWEET!!!!
ReplyDeleteElla also loves to dress up. She goes through phases though...where she wears ONLY items from her dress-up box all day, everyday to then not touching the box or items for a few weeks.
But Grace sneakily putting her outfits on during the night....that is so damn cute!!
xx
That is just beautiful Amanda. My boys have spent weeks at a time dressed as Spiderman - but I do consider that an all-purpose outfit. Warm, sun-protective and dries quickly when you wash it in the bath and pop it out in the sunshine while they run around naked waiting! Now we have three little super heroes we have a no dress ups when we go out rule. It is funny how their personalities change when they put on different clothing.
ReplyDeleteThis is an adorable story! I love that blurry photo of her fast asleep in her fairy dress. I took Skye to the Pickled Fairy shop last week as a treat for a new milestone (no more nappies!) and she was entranced by the fairies and now won't stop using her new wand and fairy wings. x
ReplyDeleteThat is the sweetest story ever.

That is so precious!!
ReplyDeleteSo so cute! And as you know I can totally relate to the getting changed into dress ups and all and every hour of the day. Imagine Will and Gracie together running around the yard in their fairy/ballerina outfits! Will would be jealous of her crown but he has a sparkly blue wand :) hehehehe

That is so adorable, I say let her be a fairy as long as you can :) I wonder if she has little fairy dreams. So cute x
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute Amanda. My niece is doing exactly the sane thing but she likes to wear it out in public as well. Oh well :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I remember, especially my eldest, being the same way.. Every time i turned around she had had an outfit change.. Sweetness... your right, its goes sooo quickly - tiaras and tutu's it is!!
ReplyDeleteHaha - she should totally rock the look in public! Why not - she looks great! Too cute she put it on during the night : ) I used to live around the corner from a primary school that had no uniform and some very free and easy parents - I loved seeing kids going to school who'd clearly dressed themselves that morning (read: gumboots paired with a fairy dress, hysterical!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! For a long time when I got my daughter dressed in the morning, I would have to ask "Regular dress or princess dress?" She also had fairy dresses and a few other dress ups and was pretty much always in a dress up. I totally let her wear them out. Like you said, there is such a small window when they can do it. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful! Perhaps a fairy party is on the cards for the next birthday?!
ReplyDeleteOh so so cute!! I agree with you - let her enjoy this phase. :)
ReplyDeleteOh this is priceless! I'm so glad you have evidence of this cuteness. She'll have a good laugh about this when she's grown up!
