"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013"...

Grace:  On the long weekend, as I sorted through the contents of our walk-in-robe on my de-cluttering mission, I pulled down the box holding my precious wedding dress and let Grace try on my veil.  I used to love doing the very same thing with my Mum's wedding dress when I was little. Watching her examine the delicate lace and beading with such care made me smile...

Sophie:  A sweet pose by Sophie waiting to go for a swim, turned into a shot of her losing it within the mere seconds it took for me to reach for my camera.  Our little one is very fiery and strong-minded indeed and tantrums have been daily occurrences lately, usually due to her frustration at wanting to do everything her big sister does.

  1. That photo of Grace is just so beautiful Amanda, capturing her wearing your veil and how delicate she is touching it:) Oh no Sophie tantrums are not much fun at all it's hard being little. Miss 9 is what I would call a spirited little one who always keeps me on my toes too.xx

  2. Hi Amanda, I'm just catching up on your blog after weeks of being away. It's incredible to see who much your beautiful girls have grown. They are just adorable. I know what you mean about the tantrums, they are becoming a regular occurrence in this household. Alba is the sweetest thing but my oh my does she have a temper when she doesn't get her own way! Love and hugs to you all x x x

  3. These pictures are very sweet. Even in the midst of a tantrum, your baby still looks sweet! Perhaps it's the adorable swim suit she has on!! xo

  4. I can't get over how much they have grown either! I love both of these photos, the one of Grace is exquisite and I can imagine you both looking at that one day and laughing as she gets ready for her own wedding. The one of Sophie is priceless! Love that outraged little face! xx

Ryder & Sophie are so alike.....we're in the middle of regular tantrums here too. And always over frustration and defiance :))))

  6. Ahhh...Sophie's pose looks very familiar to me...the frustration of this age is so hard for them at times isn't it? They want to do so much yet still don't understand how to make it happen!
Grace just looks gorgeous...a beautiful part of having a daughter xx

  7. Oh Amanda! I'm so sorry, but I couldn't help have a little chuckle at Sophie's photo (especially as I have little one with a will of steel and tantrums to rival the biggest divas)...but I love the fact that she's having her tantrum in what seems to be almost a yoga pose! Such complex little beings. Love your portraits especially this week x

  8. Hi, I found you through the 52 project.

Great photos. I love the crying one. I have a tantrum thrower too, and I often capture those moments also. I have a series on my blog called 'The Tanty Files'.

  15. I adore both of those photos! I, too, have a very strong-willed baby, and I often find myself telling myself that it's the very same traits we admire in adults that can be testing in children. To encourage their independence while teaching them to temper their tempers is a challenge indeed! But she is just gorgeous. And, oh, that capture of Grace... divine.

  17. Gorgeous! I did not keep my wedding dress (not practical as I got married in NY while living in Sydney)... but I have my veil and I finally decided to pass it onto the girls now so it is in their dress up collection and they love wearing it and being a bride!

  22. what beautiful pictures, the spirit in the second one made me smile, sometimes as an adult i would like the freedom to just give things 2 seconds before loosing it to my real emotions...actually now i think of it, carnage may ensue so perhaps its not such a great idea! Your kiddies are both adorable, so glad to find you via the linkup, i joined in for the very first time as well this week so excited to visit others for inspiration xxxx

  24. I just read your comment on my post of my Lamb wearing my veil and I just had to come over and have a look. This is just too cute! I don't know about you but I felt a bit teary seeing my little girl in a wedding veil. No doubt one day they will be wearing their own *sniff*.
