I've been extremely frustrated with my photography skills (or more accurately my lack of photography skills) this week. Shot after shot has been either blurry or too dark. However, while the two photos I've chosen this week aren't brilliant artistically, they stood out to me among the collection I'd taken because they seemed to capture my girls so well...
"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013"
Grace: Deeply engrossed in a favourite book. Those long eyelashes a pretty feature of her sweet little face
Sophie: Such an expressive, animated little one. In this photo, I can picture so vividly how she will look as a little girl

How frustrating. Maybe it's not you, it might be the lens I remember another blogger talking about her camera unable to focus properly. Sophie is so cute Amanda, those curls look like little piggy tails:) Oh my Grace has the most glorious long eye lashes, just beautiful. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend lovely. xx
ReplyDeleteI wish I could blame the camera but I honestly just think it's me and that I need to practise with different settings more :) Yes, I can see little piggy tails in that shot of Sophie too, I think that's why I can see her as a little girl in it :)
Deletelook at those beautiful eye lashes! (i wish i could have such long dark ones like that...stunning)
ReplyDeleteand those cute curls...such a cute little blondie!
That last shot is beautiful. I love the blurry out of focus blue and pale yellow and bright eyes!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Ruby... I almost didn't include that photo :)
DeleteBeautiful. I love the slight blur, looks more ethereal don't you think!
ReplyDeletePhoto 1: Those eyelashes! Gorgeous, long and feminine :)
ReplyDeletePhoto 2: Those eyes! Such an incredible blue to get lost in. I bet you get lost in them all the time.
So thankful to have found your blog through Che and Fidel.

Hi Bella, thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comment x
DeleteI've felt a little like that with my photography lately too Amanda.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm glad you included these shots as they're gorgeous! They have captured perfect moments of your girls and their characters!!

Your girls are gorgeous! How old are they? x
ReplyDeleteGrace is three and a half (four in May). Sophie is 16 months. Thanks for visiting!

I'm glad you included that photo, like you said it captures her so beautifully :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Mel, I was so close to not using it :)
DeleteI get soooo frustrated with myself as well, Amanda. I want to be really, really good and create what I see in my head NOW... not later.
ReplyDeleteTrying hard, though. We will get there!! x
Lovely pics of your beautiful girls Amanda. Can I give you a tip? Turn the setting to A for aperature and then adjust it down to a lower number eg 5.6 This way you'll get a nice bit of light, especially inside. The other thing I find useful is to adjust the exposure setting so it is just a bit over normal eg +1. Have a play!

Much appreciated tips Sarah!! Thanks x
DeleteOh my, those eyelashes!!!! And Sophie is utter perfection isn't she?? She looks like she has a twinkle in those eyes xxx
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how alike your girls look at similar ages, beautiful lashes. I'm sure you will look back at the end of the year and be amazed at how much your photography has improved, practice makes perfect and all that. Ditto to what Sarah said and maybe you could try a removable flash tilted to the ceiling or wall to add a bit more light or get a tripod. But always have fun.
ReplyDeleteYou take great pictures. Don't be so hard on yourself.
