This week’s My Place & Yours theme (chosen by Nic and Tracy) is to share what you love about your kitchen. This topic is quite ironic as without knowing, I had taken a whole bunch of photos of our kitchen on Saturday for an upcoming series of posts I have planned.
Our kitchen has had quite a makeover from how it was when we first moved in (more on that at a later date when I show you some before and after shots). One of the things I love most about it is the huge bench. Not only is it great for preparing meals as I can spread everything I need out in front of me, it is also great for parties and entertaining. Being part of an open plan living area, I love that I can be working away at our kitchen bench while chatting away to Grace who will watch me happily from her high chair.
The other part of my kitchen that I love is the pantry door which is strange as this was the original door before we renovated. We were going to replace it when we re-did our kitchen with a more solid panel but instead decided to give it a fresh lick of paint. I’m really happy we kept it – I really like the slatted door and feel that it adds a bit of character to the area.

Love the fact that you have so much bench space....plenty of room to bake and bake and bake...oh and I too love the pantry door..definitely adds some character to the space...great choice you made in keeping it!
ReplyDeleteP.S Grace is such a cutie...I want to squeeze those rolls...uhhhhh just too cute!
Amanda, your kitchen looks fabulous! I love that island bench too and your pantry door is gorgeous:) Your kitchen looks so huge, you lucky thing! I can't wait for your upcoming post!! What I love about your kitchen is your very sweet little Grace smiling away at the camer, oh so cute!!! Have a lovely day Amanda ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteYes the slatted door is a real feature. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI officially have bench envy- my kitchen is barely big enough to swing a cat in it!
ReplyDeleteThanks girls - one downfall to having a huge bench is that it does have the tendency to become a dumping ground - it isn't always that clean. However, my aim at the moment is to keep it looking that way :)
ReplyDeleteAnna - yes Grace definitely has a lot of adorable little chubby rolls :) Hope your little man is better x
Oh - so jealous of that bench space!
ReplyDeleteI actually just had our house plans out and was dreaming of a future extension and trying to figure out kitchen dimensions etc.
Thinking of your comment above though - perhaps it's better I don't have a big bench!
What a lovely big kitchen Amanda! I love the long bench and sounds like it's in the perfect spot to still be able to entertain and chat to friends. I really like the little nook you have stove top in.
ReplyDeleteAnd your little girl is such a cutie sitting there in her high chair looking very happy.
Thanks for showing us your kitchen Amanda.xo
Great bench!! You have a lovely kitchen there, all ready to be decorated with you favourite things - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMel - I keep a basket at the end of the bench and am trying to sort through it each day so it doesn't build up :)
ReplyDeleteCatherine - It's great to be able to still feel part of everything when we are entertaining
Yardage Girl - Yes, next job is to add some 'bits and pieces' to it so it looks more homely :)
Definitely a perfect bench for everything. Lucky you. Sweet babe too!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie - thanks for visiting! Yes, it's a nice bench now but it wasn't this way. Wait until you see the 'before' photos in an upcoming post :)
ReplyDeleteHi AManda, you have a great kitchen - it's so neat and tidy!!! Mine looks like a bomb has hit it so I haven't been brave enough to post it yet :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing the before and after pics x
I have bench envy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tidy kitchen! So much room to cook up a storm. The kitchen is the hub of a family home, yours is just beautiful. I'm looking forward to your future posts Amanda :)
ReplyDeleteHave I ever seen such a wonderfully large bench.... oh the cooking you could do! Your little girl is a doll! A-M xx
ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of planning a new one now. I love the idea of the wall oven and the mircowave above it. I think I need to call my kitchen guy and make some changes. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour bench is awesome. So long and clear of clutter
ReplyDeleteOh I love your kitchen and like the others that bench is a dream.
ReplyDeleteCheers

Love the neutral minimalist look of your kitchen, lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen! Mine is still a work in progress, but hopefully it will be all pretty and ready to blog about one day soon.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen - it's so modern and sleek! Your bench is fantastic - it must be fabulous when you're entertaining. Leigh
ReplyDeleteAll of that open counter space, what a dream! And I love that you kept the old pantry door, it's so charming.
