A Few Bits To Share

After our little holiday down south, the rest of last week was spent with 'what will we do today?' type days, the kind where you wake up with no particular plans and see where the day takes you. Not only was it nice to have Paul around the house during the time he was off from work, but we also managed to get some jobs crossed off our long running 'to-do list' which was very satisfying.

One item on my list for Paul (which was actually ticked off on the weekend before he began holidays but which I had yet to share with you all) was to hang some decorative plates in our kitchen. Thanks to some pestering on my part, the blue and white trio above now fills up a patch of wall which has been bare since we bought our house. A two dollar op-shop saucer and a vintage Swedish side-plate I bought off Etsy (which matches the tea cup and saucer I purchased a while back) fit in nicely next to the Villeroy and Bosch dinner plate I bought as a Christmas present to myself last year.

A trip to Ikea was another 'to-do' we managed to complete.  After returning home from our holiday to Denmark last week, I managed to persuade Paul to come to Ikea to check out a chest of drawers I was interested in.  They turned out to be perfect for what we were after and have made me happy every time I've walked into our bedroom since the weekend.  We now have SO much extra storage with such big, deep drawer space.  Now I just need to decide what to display on top...

  2. Villeroy and Boch make amazing china don't they, they have been favourites of mine for a long time. I used to go to DJ's in Canberra City just to drool over their latest ranges.

  5. Love the plates Amanda...and the new drawers! We have the same ones in white. Did yours come with a block of wood/extra leg for under the middle drawer to stop the unit sagging in the middle?

    1. No extra block of wood with ours... is yours the exact same style or is it wider again?

    2. Ours is the same and i love it! Yours looks very classy Amanda...I like the darker colour too!
With ours though, MONT decided to cut a piece of wood that we stuck under the middle section of the frame (you can't see it from the front) because we noticed the unit started to dip a little in the middle. It won't collapse or anything but the block of wood just props it up...
Get Paul to cut a piece of wood to wedge under there.

    3. Thanks for the tip Lesley, I'll be sure to tell Paul. The brown/black finish is nice but like our other dark furniture in our bedroom, it shows up EVERY speck of dust!! :)

  6. The plates are beautiful - I'm such a fan of blue and white china. I'm a tad jealous of your Ikea drawers. Having extra storage is such an exciting thing. I'm still excited by my big wardrobe! Boy oh boy I wish we had an Ikea. I hope you have a wonderful week xx

    1. We have the smaller version in white in Sophie's nursery - was the perfect size for fitting a change mat on top so it doubles as our change table too :)
