Staying Healthy Over Winter

Back when I was teaching a class of 30 children, I usually only caught one or two colds a year. Last year was a totally different story and it felt like every fortnight I seemed to have picked up some new cold or cough from Grace during chillier months. This winter, I'm going to try and avoid a repeat by looking after myself a bit more so I don't get run down by...

- starting each morning with a mug of warm water and lemon juice
- taking Vitamin C each day along with my usual multivitamin
- increasing my fruit and vegetable intake
- increasing my water intake

I also want to pamper myself a bit more, especially in the months leading up to October. While I cleanse, tone and moisture religiously morning and night, I forget to do things like exfoliate, put on a face mask or slather on body moisturiser. I'm going to try and make time for small things like these more often as well as for relaxing soaks in the bathtub.

What are your tips for keeping away the winter nasties or pampering yourself a bit more?

  1. You sound like you've got some great ideas Amanda to keep nice and healthy. The only thing I really try to do is eat lots of fresh and healthy food and having some time in the fresh air too. And thank you for reminding me I haven't given myself a face mask for ages and it always feels nice to give yourself a treat. I hope you keep nice and healthy this winter. xo

  2. It's so true that we need to nurture ourselves to keep our immunity strong so those colds stay away! I find the fruit and vegie thing generally does the trick - just nourishing from within. x

  3. I know when I was pregnant with Rosa in my last trimester I upped the fruit and veg and had a glass of spirulina everyday, I had so much more energy and didn't get sick. xx

  4. You should be glowing in the dark with healthiness Amanda : ) and I think you deserve some pampering! My sum winter prep involves a flu shot, although I do drink a lot of water too. I should be away better with the veggies but I'm getting there. On the pampering side I got some great Chanel moisturiser recently that feels fantastic. Hope you have a great weekend x

  5. Great ideas Amanda! We have been taking lots of vitamin C and multivitamins this winter and I really do think it's helped. I've been forgetting to take the multi's the last few days and this morning and yesterday morning I woke up with a slight sore throat. I do have to remember to drink more water though. I think in winter when I'm not necessarily feeling thirsty like you do in Summer I forget to drink water.
I hope you feel fine and don't get any nasty colds. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself :)
Big warm hugs to you and Gracie girl!
